However beautiful the backdrop or extraordinary the situation we find ourselves in our photography has always been first and foremost about people and personality. About creating something that’s not only pretty but seems to reveal something, however small and subtle, about the subject in front of us.
The reportage photography for which we’re perhaps best known has never been directly about the setting or the situation, they are merely a tool to reveal an aspect of character in the frame. So when it comes to portraits we wanted to apply that same mentality to our approach.
Our portraits are not about the act of photography, they’re about you. We don’t need to take you to the top of a mountain, we don’t need a wind machine, complicated lighting setup and a dozen assistants buzzing around you. We like to keep things simple – just you, us and the camera, telling the story in your eyes, your face, your expression and composure.
